Coincidence? I Think Not.
“Coincidence is the word we use when we can't see the levers and pulleys.” Emma Bull
There is a shop in Superior, WI,
Art In The Alley, that used to have a very colorful door and decorated chair that invited you in like a land of magic and ultra-coolness. I'd driven by it several times and wondered what was inside and one day I finally did. I was greeted by Tami, co-owner, who immediately engaged me in a warm, friendly conversation. I'd been making “Vision Art” for roughly a year and made one for who struck my fancy. I asked her for a card, and decided that she was going to get the next one. It was fun to make simply because of the uniqueness of the store – she made jewelry, painted, taught classes, and designed silverware (among other things) and her husband made pottery and pottery that turned into jewelry. A week later, I was laid-off from my 10-year position and mechanically drove myself to her shop again. I knew that she'd had an executive position, had been laid-off also, then decided to follow her big dreams. I wanted to know how she went about that. She directed me to networking groups and
Kim Luedtke, Creative Genius. That was 15 months ago and NOT coincidentally, my art, classes, and mugs are in her beautiful new shop, the 2nd location. How were we brought together? Why did I decide to make a stranger one of my vision arts? Why, when I'd only met her once, drive directly to her shop when in shock of losing my job? Coincidence? I think not.
